Gluten Free Name Brands: Breakfast


Breakfast isn't too difficult for us GFers if we stick to eggs and...well, eggs. Most cereals, waffles, pancake mixes and breakfast bars are chock full of gluten.
The following is a list of safe breakfast foods by name brand. Good morning!

From the Kellogg’s website on 3/5/2008:

At this time, we do not offer products suitable for consumers on a gluten-free diet except as follows:
Kellogg's® Eggo™ Syrup, Kellogg's™ Fruit Flavored Snacks and Kellogg's® Yogos are formulated gluten- free and may be acceptable for consumers on restricted diets

Kellogg's® Corn Pops® and Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® might be suitable, depending on gluten sensitivity. Corn Pops have a very small amount of wheat starch added, and Rice Krispies have a small amount of malt flavoring, made from barley. Check with your personal physician to determine if these products are suitable for you.

Sent letter dated 6/28/00 which stated the following:
"All our Traditional fruit spreads: Jams, Jellies, Preserves, Marmalades, Fruit Syrups, Low-Sugar and Sugar Free Fruit spreads, Simply 100% Fruit Spread etc., are gluten-free. Also, our Natural Peanut Butters are gluten-free.
Smucker's chocolate and milk-based ice cream toppings contain modified food starch which is of waxy maise (corn) origin and should not contain any gluten. However, our Sundae Syrups do contain oat flour, which is unacceptable for many gluten intolerant patients."

Hillshire Farm & Kahns

Sent a letter dated 3/19/99 which included the following statement: "Please avoid the 97% and Fat Free Hot Dogs and Deli Select Roast Beef, but the remaining Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage, Deli Select, Hot Dog, Bacon and Ham products are gluten free, therefore, no wheat, corn, barley or other gluten containing substances are included in these products. We use fresh cuts of pork, beef and turkey, natural seasonings and hardwood smoke."

Jimmy Dean Foods
Sent a letter dated 6/26/00 which included the following statements: "Our fresh sausage meat, Jimmy Dean Regular, Special Recipe and Hot Roll Sausage, Skinless Sausage Links, Dinner Sausage, and Patties do not contain wheat or gluten products. There are no artificial ingredients in our fresh sausage. However, our smoked sausage, bacon, precooked sausage, and our sandwiches are not gluten free.
Our fresh sausage is not run on the same equipment as the sandwich products are."

At the bottom of the list was the following statement: "This list is correct as of the date shown below. However, formulations of various products are subject to change at any time.
